Sailfish Thursday We landed this 33.40 lb wahoo and took 2 place for the under 40 foot division for the 2008 Calcutta Wahoo Challenge. Congratulations to angler Mike Harrah on this nice wahoo! Once again this proved to be a fun friendly event and look forward to next year.

Sailfish Its been to long since I've taken the time to post a report. Today was a beautiful day on the water with a group from PA. On the way out we stopped to watch a huge school of blacktip sharks putting on an acrobatic show for a few minutes. A few miles later we found a surfboard in like new condition floating!

A little after 8 am we arrived in the gulf stream ready to catch some fish. Before we even get all the lines out we hook up a 40 lb. wahoo! Off to a great start!

The next two or three hours we pick away at dolphin, blackfin tuna and king mackerel. The Calcutta Wahoo Challenge starts in a week and we need more!!
Next comes another 40 pound wahoo.

Then it happens, a bill comes slashing thru the spread! Jeff drops the bait back and BAM its on! The fish stays deep until beside the boat. Its a sailfish and it is huge! One if not the fattest sailfish I've ever seen. Fish was released in great condition after a few boatside pictures.

Sailfish High fives are going around the boat while we discuss fishing another hour when all hell breaks loose. Line is screaming off of a 30 wide like it was nothing. Lines are quickly cleared and our angler begins recovering line. Its staying deep and acting like a wahoo. Finally she comes to the boat and its a freaking slob wahoo. All three wahoo are citations, but this one we take over to Freeman's Discount Tackle later that night and got the angler a citation for a 67# wahoo!

The sea holds one more suprise for us; An anchor ball, floating along in the middle of nowhere! Another fine day at the office!!

Did a half day nearshore today. King mackerel and false albacore are still biting strong!
Weather permitting we'll be doing an offshore trip Saturday and Sunday. Looks like its going to blow until then...

King Mackerel Doug, one our mates, and I fished the same area as earlier in the week and boated 771 lbs of king mackerel! Give us a call for a nearshore trip if you want in on some of the best king fishing you will see anywhere.

Atlantic Bonito are also starting to show. This little known fish will be in our area until approximatley the end of april, and at our house is the favorite type of tuna.

King Mackerel fishing has been off the hook the last week or so. Rounded up a captain from another boat and went out for commercial trips on monday and tuesday. We ended up with just under 1000 lbs for the two days. Here is a picture of Mondays catch.

Nice Red Grouper!

Winter weather gave us a little break today. With no charters lined up for the afternoon, we did a commercial trip with a few friends. Ended up having a great bottom trip with some large red groupers! Fished some nice bottom 15-20 miles of the beach.

Here is our buddy John with a very nice red grouper! This one was caught off a small ledge in about 100' of water on cut squid.
